Gyaan Series: Air Quality by Abid Omar/Rafay Alam April 30, 2019 6:30 - 7:45 PM

Air Quality in urban centers has deteriorated rapidly over the past few years due to massive tree felling, increasing vehicular emissions, industrial smoke and primitive crop burning practices. While the effects were being felt, smog in the last two years has really brought upfront the issue of air pollution.

Organized as part of Air Quality Awareness Week ’19 (Apr 29 – May 3) , the talk focuses on presenting listeners with pertinent data and policy. Whether you are an environmentalist, a citizen concerned about their or future generations’ well-being or just someone who wants to be “educated” on the topic, this event is for you.

We have two speakers to help you navigate the issue.

Presenter 1: Abid Omer, Founder Pakistan Air Quality Initiative (PAQI)

Presenter 2: Ahmad Rafay Alam, A Yale World Fellow is a lawyer and partner at Saleem, Alam & Co. a law firm

Mr. Abid Omer will help you understand the data while Ahmad Rafay Alam will educate the audience regarding relative law/policy issues.

Open Mic Night: Life Stories April 19, 2019 7:00-8:30pm

“Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans”
We go through various stages in our lives starting from a wailing blob to a kid who is fascinated with the world around them to a man/woman fending for ourselves till we reach old age and with death become one with earth. Experiences, individuals, places teach us something expanding our mind and sometimes trauma/death/disease or just life experiences affects us on such a deep level that we sometimes get stuck in a rut.

Whether life has taught you a valuable lesson (your A-ha/Eureka moment) that changed your life-path or some regrets of the IFs and Buts that changed you as a person, come share that with an audience. Doing so you could inspire another generation into action, achieve closure or perhaps allow you to visualize the matter in a different light. People of all age, shapes and sizes are welcome to perform.

Gyaan Series: Off Grid Living by Naeem Ahmed Bajwa April 12, 2019 7:30 - 8:30 pm

Erratic electricity outages, lack of nutrient rich food and smoggy air in the cities often makes one think, “Is this the progress, that mankind is working for? How did we end up in this place and can we visualize an alternate lifestyle to this madness?”

Off-the-grid is a system and lifestyle designed to help people function without the support of remote infrastructure, such as an electrical grid. Off-the-grid movements are gaining wind around the world and focus on minimizing our carbon foot-print to live life sustainably and in the process become more self-reliant.

If you are someone who is in search for an alternate lifestyle or just curious to know what other possibilities exist, come join us for a wonderful primer on the movement.

Open Mic Night: Relationships March 22, 2019 7:00-8:30pm

On the back of our first event’s success, we are doing the 2nd open mic where we want participants to discuss relationships (or the lack thereof)

What goes into the making of a good relationship? What are the warning signs of a bad one? What role does hard work, communication etc play? What does space and personal development mean in a relationship.. What role do finances, assets and independence play in making/breaking a relationship?
How does a relationship get affected with the entry of a child (or 2 or 3…) What happens/happened when you decide to go your separate ways?

If relationships rile you up or make you go lovey dovey, then share your gyaan with the rest of the audience. Considering this is a sensitive topic, we request you to maintain civility. While we believe in the right to self-expression, do unto others as you would have them do unto you

Open Mic Night: Travel Stories February 22, 2019 6:30 - 7:45 PM

Ever caught yourself reminiscing some past trip or narrating a favorite travel anecdote to your friends, family or virtual friends. Have a horror story with lost luggage, “green” passport or an irate fellow traveler. Learnt an important life lesson or let go of things while traversing the mountains or diving below sea level in Pakistan or abroad?

Then come and share and reflect it with an audience. People with a love/hate relationship with travel, frequent fliers, travel bloggers/influencers/journalists and tour operators all are welcome.
